Lonely Unicorn

"The world's most original wooden warship" but The Frigate Unicorn was looking lonely and unloved round in Dundee's Victoria dock while everyone flocks to Captain Scott's Discovery about a mile away:

Unicorn would be much better displayed beside its more popular Dundonian. I am also amazed they still have Unicorn floating and rotting while boasting that more of it is in its original form than any other old warship. A dry dock would seem more appropriate.

Amazed - and more than a little sad that the Unicorn is floating and rotting. Preserve it. Please...

That looks like a really interesting boat.

I note the website link says " it is proposed to preserve the ship out of water and protected from the weather", But she has been languishing in the water for a few years since arrival in Dundee. I hope they can get a move on with the preservation soon. I had a look inside. Very atmospheric.

Scott of The Antarctic's ship Discovery is also quite something inside (we looked at that some years ago), with the central dining table and Scott's cabin all very atmospheric.

It's still quite impressive, even in a deserted state.

I now read that she hosts quite a few "jazz nights" and weddings and corporate "do's", so rather than being lonely she was probably just enjoying a quiet afternoon off amid a long life of sailors and dancers and business types stomping across her old boards.

Ooo, I love the Unicorn! Much more original and creative.
